Marxism is based on two main ideas. Marx's philosophical views of man and his theory of history. His view of man explains how he feels people should contribute to and act in society. The theory of history describes the different economic stages a society must go through till it becomes the ideal economic form, communism.

The first part of Marx's view of man discusses how men should contribute to society. This is a very simple and yet extremely difficult idea for people to grasp. He feels people should work because they have to work in order to fulfill their role in society. People should do what they are best at and will benefit society the most, not what earns them the most money. People shouldn't be so concerned about money, and what things they can buy with it, to make their own lives better. The whole point of working is to help better society for everyone. Marx believes every persons work is their destiny and every persons destiny is connected to the society's destiny.

The second part of Marx's view of man is how men should act or behave in society. People should be more accepting of one another and not judge by material possessions. We should not care so much about material possessions and competing against each other to make more profit. They should want to work and cooperate with each other for the better of the society as a whole. There should also be no waste of any kind because waste can never help a society only hurt it. Waste can always be avoided or used in some way even if it will be more time consuming and require more effort. That should be no problem because the welfare of society should always be more important to the people than having to do more work.

Marx's theory of history describes the ideal development of a society's economic system. It first has to start with the most flawed, but most socially accepted economic system Capitalism. Capitalism is a free trade economic system based on the Law of Supply and Demand, competition, and the two socioeconomic classes. This is the most flawed economic system, but is essential as a first step in a societies economic development. The next step is Socialism. Socialism is supposed to emerge when the majority of the population, which makes up the lower class, decides to revolt and get rid of social classes based on wealth. Socialism is the transitioning economic system in which the social classes are becoming more equal, and all the economic power is now in the hands of the government. Socialism is a good economic system except for the separations between the economy and all the people. Eventually once socialism stabilizes another revolt will occur to abolish the government. This should then pave the way for the ideal economic system to come into play, Communism. There would be no government, people would cooperate, and work to improve the community and society. . .
